Why DirectAdmin Control Panel?
DirectAdmin (DA) is a proprietary control panel developed by JBMC Software. One of the major cPanel/WHM competitors, DirectAdmin is a popular choice both for personal use and for reselling web hosting. DA is flexible, secure and easy to use.
DirectAdmin is typically deployed on CentOS and Debian operating systems. As long as your Virtual Private Server (VPS) has at least 1 GB of RAM memory, you will enjoy all the benefits of a DirectAdmin VPS.
Why use DirectAdmin rather than cPanel? The answer depends on what you use your VPS for.
For resellers, agencies and hosting companies, DirectAdmin is a preferred control panel because of lower licensing costs. DA’s Standard license is for an unlimited number of accounts and domains, while all cPanel licenses are for a limited number of accounts.
If you need a VPS to host just a few apps or scripts, DirectAdmin may still be slightly more affordable than a cPanel VPS. But in the end, it is primarily a matter of personal preference. Many go for DA because it has a tidier interface and is simpler to use.
Even though DirectAdmin is quite easy to use, server management can be demanding and time consuming. We therefore recommend getting a cheap managed DirectAdmin VPS.
The companies below all offer inexpensive managed support for their DirectAdmin VPS. The scope of their server management varies, but they all include basic OS- and control panel-level support. All of them include the following features:
